Meter Generation by Location

To give a sense of where Irish generation is the following map shows where this is currently happening in Ireland. What can be seen is the contribution of wind to the west coast of Ireland, bringing valuable infrastructure and providing clean electricity to the Irish system. The size of the circles represents the volume of generation brought to the grid. What you can see is that while there are many wind sites a few larger thermal power stations brings as much electricity. Interconnectors are a really important contributor to Irelands electricity needs. These are shown where the interconnectors at Moyle and Eirgrid connect to the grid.
